One Week Evaluation

I know what you are thinking – what is the point in this? One week is too short for an evaluation! How can you sum up what you are doing? You have low/high expectations! You are only writing this post for the sake of it! Why did I watch ‘Ordinary Lies’ last night – it was awful!

To which I say – most of it is fair. However, this is the first proper blog I have been writing for, rather this is the first week being on Twitter – it is 2016, what the heck have I been doing for the past 10 years since Twitter started? So far it has been going alright, I’ve been writing posts consistently, I had feedback that they are decent and building a website is a pain in the arse. But I enjoy it – I have a few followers who I can actually converse with about snooker. Twitter is all about immersing yourself into their communities, after all! Being on Twitter is weird, though – it is like wandering through a quiet forest where nothing happens for quite a bit, then suddenly everything happens at once. Then you make a suspicious sound of disturbance, and all the birds will peck you to hell. This makes sense in my head and thankfully the latter part hasn’t happened to me yet.

Most importantly, this gives me an opportunity to think about what I can do for you lovely people that get views, followers, discussions and interest in my blog and snooker as a whole. Here are what I hope is to come:

  • Tournament previews, predictions & summaries: I started these posts since the European Open and I rather enjoy them, especially how informative they can be, so they will continue to keep coming!
  • Ranking articles: these will be rarer – it is more of the case of who is in danger, who is close to the Top16 and the like. I can’t do it all the time – there are many bloggers who do exactly that, so I cannot dwell on it too much or it’ll be just the same as the others – I need to stand out a bit dammit!
  • FEATURE articles: this is something that I definitely want to happen. These articles talk about snooker in general, but in more depth, so longer than tournament previews. They will talk about anything that is worth a debate, no matter how controversial they may be. I have already written drafts for them so ideas floating around are:
    • Should Shoot-Out ever be a ranking event?
    • Progression in women’s snooker and the future.
    • Are the young generation of players overtaking the old guard?
  • Polls: Once I can get more and more followers, I will start introducing polls, an easy way for people to answer questions about snooker, banter topics and of course, help me think about ideas of what to write next, how to improve the website and more puns.

That is about it! For those who are enjoying me rambling, please spread the word – would very much appreciate it. Thanks again to those who helped me understand how to do this blogging lark as well. Please keep the feedback coming. Onwards and upwards!
