Why not write a blog? It will be lovely! Hmm.

Hello and welcome! I’m Alex and this is my Cluster of Reds Snooker Blog! If you are indeed revisiting this post, hello again! If you are revisiting the third time – you have too much time on your hands (says me, I suppose.) If it is more than that, then at least my intro is more bearable than watching Stormbreaker, a film that has haunted me to this very day (this isn’t saying much, I much admit).

So why am I writing a blog about snooker? I love the sport, I know a number of people who enjoy it and I want to express my views about it! I started supporting snooker avidly since 2011, when a young Judd Trump came onto the scene during the World Championships with his naughty snooker, eventually losing to John Higgins. I was engrossed, mainly because ignorant me thought it odd not hearing of snooker without hearing Stephen Hendry or Ronnie O’Sullivan for once. I went to my first live match in Cardiff, watching the first session of the final of the Welsh Open between Higgins and Ben Woollaston.

So why write a blog at all? Well, a friend complained that I watch such a boring sport more than necessary so I thought ‘why not put my watching of snooker to good use?’ Then I had a bacon sandwich and digressed for a month before writing up a number of articles including this one. Then had another bacon sandwich.

What will this blog contain? I will try and write as much as I can. I want to write in-depth articles and topics all relating to the sport – the Olympics, women in snooker, the history of the Masters, that sort of thing and try and get a few polls going to see what fans actually think later down the line. There will be tournament predictions, analysis on the rankings, my experiences and a few random tweets on why Takeshi’s Castle hasn’t been brought back yet. Important questions like this need to be answered.

So, I suppose I better get started on this tappity-tap-on-the-keyboard motion of eloquently putting forward my views about snooker before being lambasted for expressing them 🙂 . The Internet can be a very dangerous and provocative wildebeest indeed, so I’ve been told, and I only just set up a Twitter account…
