BLOG UPDATE: What’s coming up next year?

So I am still in this blogging lark. That is weird. I enjoy writing about it and talking about it to the lovely people of Twitter/Facebook and I’m glad people actually read them! Being asked by someone if they can translate one of my articles into Russian, for example, is rather odd but it’s still wonderful to hear! This is my 101st article and I honestly had no aspirations other than ‘might as well give this is a go.’ This is a wonderful snooker community to talk to, which is full of fans, bloggers and professionals and I enjoying so much of this. I’m here to stay and I thank you for it!

So is there anything that will happen on this blog next year?

You might have read earlier that I will be doing a mini-series of articles on women’s snooker: The Referees; The Players; Sexism; The Calendar; and The Future. Some of the details can be found here: BLOG UPDATE: The “Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves” Series. This is still going ahead and ‘The Referees’ will be published after the Masters, so that is late January. Basically, I will talk about how more women are participating in the sport that we all cherish and what barriers there are to overcome. Since the World Ladies Billiards and Snooker (WLBS) is growing and growing, we got to give them the attention they deserve – there’s a lot of talent there. Annoyingly, the banner/logo is taking longer than expected but if that’s the worst thing happening with this thing, I can’t complain! That’s at least going to be the main project.

Hopefully, that series will go well – it will be interesting and I’m really looking forward to it! I’ll still carry on with my previews, featured articles and countdowns. Considering this January I had 14 views in total compared to over 500 views in this month so far – I don’t see any reason to stop now! Might do a book review/player profile/articles on particular controversies – I don’t know. An article on the events surrounding John Higgins’s trip to Kiev which led to the complicated debate on whether he’s a cheat or not would a great one to do!

If by the end of the World Championships I’m still enjoying blogging and snooker. I might start changing things up here. This includes the look on my website and the tweaking the logo. Watch this space and see how it goes! I’m always up for ideas of articles and how a website should look like or anything that I should tweak that I haven’t noticed do let me know! 2017 has been a mixed year for me overall (lots of good and bad) and blogging has been one of many good things that have gone around this year, which is cool.

This year has been fun and can’t wait to carry on! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you all the best in the New Year! Cheers!
