What a UK Championship! Amazingly, almost everyone has to head immediately to the city of Glasgow now to compete in the Scottish Open!
It’s the third Home Nations event and though Ronnie O’Sullivan’s dreams of the £1,000,000 jackpot were shattered in Belfast by Elliot Slessor, this is another ranking event for anyone to get their dirty paws on, except Mark Williams, who of course wants to look after his wife who is in a hospital and Mark Selby, who’s enjoying his lovely snowman.

This is the twelfth ranking event this season and of course, with some of the big boys being unavailable, opens plenty of opportunities for other players. Even John Higgins, after beating Yan Bingtao in the UK Championship, said he will win a ranking event this season. What do you think? Or is it time for one of the veterans such as David Gilbert, Robert Milkins and Michael Holt to grasp their first silverware to cap off what is a very odd 2017. Or can Marco Fu defend his title?
