Hello all!
My Brighton Marathon date is only this weekend! Seriously can’t believe that time has passed so quickly and also that I have been training for 5 months for this thing! Also, I am a week away from shutting up about the marathon, which has been irritating a few people I’m sure!
My training has gone really well. I did a half-marathon event at Wembley almost a month ago (did 1 hour 50 minutes) and the largest distance I’ve done in one sitting is 21 miles (doing it in 3 hours and 14 minutes). Recently, I have been tapering and having sports massages in the past three weeks, so it hasn’t been too bad I suppose! Had plenty of contact with my charity Dementia UK who have been very helpful indeed with Brighton preparations and their advice during their workshop was invaluable. I think I eat more porridge in five months and I have in the past 10 years. 🙂
I still can’t believe I’ll be running 26.2 miles on Sunday for my grandmother, which is without a doubt one of the best and most stupid things I’ve done. I am raising money so that people with dementia have fantastic care and top quality treatment, more access to one-on-one guidance and education on the disease.
I seriously appreciate you reading my progress and I won’t be updating much snooker-wise over the weekend (to your relief or despair, take your pick!) I’ll be arriving at Brighton tomorrow and running, sorting out my number, being massaged, cursing, thinking about Donkey Kong 64 tracks on a random basis to keep myself occupied and focused during my run – you get the gist!
Wish me luck for the last push – the Marathon is only this Sunday! For those who might be interested in my JustGiving page (it’s not an obligation!), please private message me.
Kind regards
Alex
